Feiyan tea
Nowadays everybody is going crazy for this Chinese herbal tea mixture that is said to be a weight loss miracle! Feiyan tea is a mixture of green tea, lotus leaves, cansia seed and vegetable sponge and is widely known for is slimming and appetite suppressing effects. This tea also has a laxative effect and is therefore great for people who suffer from constipation. The manufacturers of these tea mixtures claim that it will not just help in battling off excess pounds but also help to detoxify the body and keep the bowels healthy.
Since Feiyan tea has a laxative effect it takes some time to get used to it. That’s why you should drink one bag of tea per day during the first week and then increase the dose on two bags per day. During that first week you will probably have problems with diarrhea but that should reduce slowly as the body gets accommodated to it. The green tea in this mixture detoxifies the body and has positive effect on both weight loss and general health. Vegetable sponge works as an appetite suppressant by causing the feeling of satiety. Laxative effect of the mixture helps to get rid of excess water, clean the bowels and keep them healthy and agile. Feiyan tea, unlike many other teas, doesn’t contain caffeine so if you have problems to fall asleep after a cup of tea or coffee, you will be happy to know that it can be consumed even in the evening.
With this tea mixture, however, there are certain limitations. There are no published studies that proved this tea to be a weight loss aid. In my opinion, that fact can be neglected because there are many positive testimonials and I don’t think this tea is so popular all over UK for no reason. Another thing worries me, and that’s the warning about pregnant women not being advised to drink it. No body say why but I’m guessing it’s because the laxative effect of it is so strong that the body actually loses nutrients. If that’s the case then I must wonder- if nutrient loss is so big that it can actually endanger the fetus, how can it be good for your health then? I have to agree that drinking tea is a very healthy habit, and I don’t mind incorporating it in my lifestyle, but when it comes to this specific tea mixture- I prefer to wait until more information is available.
